Far-Left Propaganda at U.S. Naval Base

Military watchdog journalist Sam Shoemate posted on his X account (@samosaur) on 20 August:

Less than 1 month after the Secretary of the Navy, Carlos Del Toro, issued clear guidance to Navy personnel to refrain from unlawful political activity [https://mynavyhr.navy.mil/Portals/55/Messages/ALNAV/ALN2024/ALN24061.txt…], the Navy finds itself once again in hot water for publicly permitting once-sided progressive political stances.

In this case, leadership permitted the public display and promotion of exclusively left-wing political figures under the guise of supporting the empowerment of women.

The public display on a Virginia Naval Base was only taken down after a sitting Congressman took notice and issued a letter to Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro. [https://reschenthaler.house.gov/media/press-releases/reschenthaler-kiggans-blast-far-left-propaganda-at-us-naval-base…]

In an internal message obtained by whistleblowers and shared with myself, the three-and four-star leadership in charge of this debacle detailed the actions they took to make this “problem” go away.

These actions included taking down the left-wing political propaganda, continuing the SECNAV directed training on political activities, and inspecting all spaces for any other signage of a questionable political nature.

What is conspicuously absent from the list of corrective actions is what accountability measures are being taken by Navy Leadership, including investigations and appropriate disciplinary measures.

This lack of accountability has become a hallmark of uniformed military leaders since the beginning of the Global War on Terror and has been continued by the Medical Mandate-tainted leadership of today.

No one in senior leadership is held accountable for mistakes as long as they are of the right political persuasion and work to protect the Institution first.

There is no stronger indication of tacitly permitted violations of the law than these continued unlawful left-wing political incidents occurring while conservative leaders, such as Navy SEAL Captain Brad Geary, have the full force of the Navy Bureaucracy targeting them, even when they have done nothing wrong, but just happen to be Conservative Christians. [https://shawnryanshow.com/blogs/vigilance-elite-blogs/srs-124-captain-brad-geary-inside-the-failed-investigation-and-tragic-death-of-kyle-mullen…]

In the case of this left-wing political display, Navy leaders just happened to get caught.

Until there is true accountability, these tacitly approved violations will continue.

Reschenthaler, Kiggans Blast Far-Left Propaganda at U.S. Naval Base (Press Release, 13 Aug 24)

Chief Deputy Whip Guy Reschenthaler (R-PA) and U.S. Representative Jen Kiggans (R-VA) blasted the U.S. Navy after a sign glorifying far-left and antisemitic activists was displayed at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek Galley in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Reschenthaler and Kiggans demanded the sign be removed and additional actions be taken to ensure the issue is rectified and handled appropriately.

The sign included quotes from individuals that are self-proclaimed Marxists and proponents of socialist uprisings. These voices have a history of calling for genocide against the Jews, supporting the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) campaign against Israel, and pushing for prison abolition.

In the letter, the lawmakers wrote: “As Navy veterans, we believe this poster will undoubtedly further politicize our nation’s military, hurt recruitment and retention efforts, and legitimatize activists who have spread antisemitism against Jewish Americans. We respectfully request an immediate response to this letter and an end of this administration’s efforts to insert far-left politics into our nation’s military.”

Reschenthaler and Kiggans are both veterans of the U.S. Navy. Reschenthaler served as a Judge Advocate General’s Corps (JAG) and deployed to Iraq. Kiggans served as a helicopter pilot and deployed twice to the Persian Gulf.

Dear Secretaries Austin and Del Toro:

We write regarding the Biden-Harris Administration’s latest effort to insert far-left partisan politics into the Department of Defense. In August 2024, the Joint Expeditionary Base (JEB) Little Creek Galley displayed a sign that promoted far-left, racial politics and critical race theory in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

As Navy veterans, we believe this poster will undoubtedly further politicize our nation’s military, hurt recruitment and retention efforts, and legitimatize activists who have spread antisemitism against Jewish Americans.

Alarmingly, the far-left propaganda indoctrination also included quotes from individuals that are self-proclaimed Marxists and proponents of socialist uprisings.

These voices have a history of calling for genocide against the Jews, supporting the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) campaign against Israel, and pushing for prison abolition.

Additionally, the poster promotes a candidate for the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election and clearly excludes any conservative voice.

We respectfully request answers to the following questions:

1. Is this poster still displayed at JEB Little Creek?
2. Was this poster authorized by the Department of Defense, Department of the Navy, or any command or official on JEB Little Creek?
3. Has any other base, command, or installation displayed this poster?
4. What actions have been taken to rectify this issue?
5. Does the administration believe activists who support genocide and BDS against Israel are appropriate voices for Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Guardians, and Marines?

We respectfully request an immediate response to this letter and an end of this administration’s efforts to insert far-left politics into our nation’s military.
